LEAP Application Information

Employer Form

Your employer is required to submit an employer form. This includes both a recommendation of you and agreement on providing the time and tuition for the program. If you are self-employed or a volunteer, you are required to submit a recommendation form instead. Click here for downloadable version to preview. All elements are due on the application deadline.

Attendance Policy

No more than 16 hours of excused absences are permitted in the event of a substantiated emergency or serious illness. Any participant who has an unexcused absence or who misses more than 16 hours for whatever reason will not fully graduate, but will received a certificate of participation. Attendance at the Reception, Retreat, and Commencement is mandatory, no exceptions. If you know in advance that you are likely to miss more than 2 of the session dates listed below, you should consider postponing your application until a future year.

Application Fee

There is a $25 non-refundable application fee. It is payable on the application page.

Tuition Assistance

Leadership Pioneer Valley is pleased to offer financial assistance towards tuition for individuals who are self-employed, employed by a small business, unemployed, or employed by the non-profit or public sector, and would otherwise be unable to participate.

Those requesting assistance must indicate so in the appropriate space provided in the application packet and fill out a Tuition Assistance Request Form.

Your request for tuition assistance in no way influences the selection process and is totally confidential. Each request will be reviewed independent of the selection process and will have no effect on selection.

Discounts & Scholarships

Early Application Discounts

Organizations hoping to send multiple participants to LPV are invited to submit early applications to qualify for group discounts. Organizations submitting 3 or more complete applications by May 31st are eligible for a 50% discount on one participant.

Tim Brennan Leadership Fund

The Tim Brennan Leadership Fund was created to honor Tim’s more than 40 year career in public service. Tim helped found LPV because PVPC saw a critical need for a regional leadership development program that would connect diverse leaders. He wanted to build an “army of leaders” who would understand critical issues that impact the region and get involved. The fund supports individuals who would not otherwise be able to participate in Leadership Pioneer Valley’s LEAP Program. The fund prioritizes those dedicated to public service with a full or partial scholarship each year. Click here to apply.

Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund

Private sector employers of 100 employees or fewer and select nonprofits are eligible to apply for tuition reimbursement from the MA workforce training fund. LPV cannot provide formal technical support for applications to this program, but encourages WTF applicants to note that in LPV applications. See http://workforcetrainingfund.org/express

Note About COVID-19

As COVID-19 vaccinations are more widely distributed, we fully anticipate delivering a hybrid or fully in-person curriculum for the 2021-22 leadership programs. We will continue to monitor and follow all federal, state and local guidelines around in-person meetings. All in-person will be masked and distanced.

In the event there are restrictions in September that prevent gatherings over 25 people, we will cultivate an exciting hybrid experience utilizing video conferencing and smaller, outdoor gatherings similar to the successful 2021 leadership program year.
