Leaders OnBoard - Franklin County
Rise to the Next Level of Board Involvement
Franklin County relies on the leaders of its nonprofit boards to take on challenges in areas of need from education to addiction. To support their good work, we at Leadership Pioneer Valley and our partner organizations want to nurture new board leaders and enhance the skills of those who are already involved. Through our new program, Leaders OnBoard, you can get educated on the broad range of needed skills, find peer mentors, and connect to various boards in need of people to serve. Other program partners include the Community Foundation of Western MA, Franklin Regional Council of Governments and Greenfield Community College.
Board Basics Workshops
Board Basics workshops provide individuals who are interested in board service or want a best practices refresher with the fundamentals of board service and tips for maximizing their impact. These three-hour sessions will occur quarterly. All attendees will be “board certified” by Leadership Pioneer Valley and eligible for both Board Member Matching and Peer2Peer Meetings.
Leaders OnBoard will create a cadre of interconnected board leaders and staff who are well-prepared to increase the capacity of Franklin County nonprofits. This community of practice will meet monthly and explore board development topics with peers and mentors. The meetings will feature a World Café structure, allowing participants to mold the conversation and build relationships with others.
Register yourself or your nonprofit for one of our quarterly Board Member Matching events. If your board consistently operates at less-than-maximum capacity, struggles with frequent turnover, or simply a natural change cycle is occurring, consider Board Member Matching. "Board Certified" Board Basics graduates attend Board Member Matching events, which are designed for the structured facilitation of the get-to-know-you phase. Leadership Pioneer Valley will provide formal follow-up to ensure promising matches get connected after the event.
Today's boards and non-profit leaders have a range of board development needs and experiences. To serve those needs, the Leaders OnBoard program will offer an annual training conference. Networking opportunities, topical workshops, and focused professional development, all in a conference-style setting, will strengthen the foundation of board preparedness in Franklin County.
Save the Date for our 2nd annual board conference on Saturday, October 28th, 2017. Click here for information about last year's conference.
